My son has been on probation in California and we recently switched counties.?

The problem is that when we moved I contacted a probation officer that he had just been assigned to, we had not meant her yet. I left atleast ten messages asking her to return my call and explaining that we had to move to another county. She never did call me back so finally I left her our new address and asked her to forward his case. We just got a letter in the mail from her saying he is in violation of probation and is recommending he be locked up because she has not heard from us! I'm so upset because he is doing so good. He is just about to turn eighteen and was on probation for a non violent misdemeanor. Can anyone tell me if when he turns eighteen will this all go away? How long does a juvenile warrant last for if he ignores court? He is about to start college and probation just wont let go or keep their information straight. When does this ever end???

it will not go away. if your son leaves the state the us marshalls/fbi have taskforces for people who are on the lamb. i doubt that they would waste their time but it could happen. juvinlie law depending on the state can go to 21 or more.they will put a interstate warrant out if he gets a ticket or id run, it will show a warrant. if he stays in state he will be taken to jail and held w/o bail for vop. if it is out of state he will be detained cali will be informed of his detainment. they have a time period to respond, its different in every state. you can fight extradition but you always lose. he will be transported back to cali where he will be held w/o bail until he sees a judge. the judge can sentence him to incarceration at a juvinile facility, or reenstate probation. this is serious you need to contact the probation explain that you moved and your son had no choice. take proof that you contacted them by phone[phone bill] and mail certified hopefully. the problem is you have to have your probation tranfered to the county you move before you move. they can accept or deny you. sometimes they will let you move and mail in a report as long as there is no police interaction. now you and i now this is no big deal. it was their fault for dropping the ball, they will never admit this. but thats how these people think. its their job to ruin peoples lives and they do it everyday. its a quota thing same with cops, proscecutors, judges. you have to contact probation take a day off, take you son down to probation get a court date. contact legal aid in your state they usually have a sliding scale for payment. if you can afford a lawyer it will help. doors open for lawyers that don't for you and i. it can be straightened out but if you blow it off it will snowball.
