Since this was a misdemeanor, it is a relatively simple procedure to expunge a single conviction. Go the the Clerk of Courts in the county of arrest/conviction and ask for a motion packet to expunge a misdemeanor. It is not a complicated form. Return it with the filing fee to the Clerk's office. A court appearance is not needed in this type of motion. You will be notified by mail of the result.
If you feel challenged in filling out legal documents, you can have an attorney within the same jurisdiction of the arrest/conviction do this for you. The fee varies with what the attorney feels his time is worth, but he will tell you what his charge will be during the initial consultation. Then you can make your own informed decision.

if your son hasn't had any other troubles with the law you can go to corrections (probation/parole) canada and get an application for a pardon, can't remember if it's 50$ or 200$. it is non-refundable. |

Depending on where you are from you can get his record expunged. It may cost a few dollars but is worth it. It requires a specific form to fill out and you mail it in. |
