My son ran away.is the police report he filled out at my house the same as the one at the police station?

isn't the report at the station filled out in more detail than the one filled out at my house?

Not were I used to work and was a supervisor. In fact if anyone with a missing child came to the station to make a report we sent officers to the home. Officers at the home make a thorough preliminary investigation that covers the basics of the usual missing, they often can solve the problem immediately. By protocol and best police practice whenever a child or teen who is not a habitual is missing the officer searches the house, checks the child's belongings/room and interviews the family. Unknown to the family the officer may talk with neighbors and friends of the missing.
None of this can be done by a station officer taking a report.
The field officer also enters the information on the missing via dispatcher into NCIC immediately and starts/coordinates a search if conditions point towards the need.
The field report is more detailed than any report that can be done in a station or via phone.
