The judge appointed him an attorney.Is this ok to use these attorney's?
My son talked to him and he seemed to be helpful. I don't know I've never been through anything like this and I've been sick ever since.He was very cooperative. What usually happens in these cases? He's a good person and just made a bad choice and thank God nothing else happened. I'm just a mom that's worried!!

well he would do better if he could afford one...
what is going to happen he more than likely will have a fine of about $1000 + court cost more than likely he will lose his driving privilege for a while and could spend some more jail time anywhere from a weekend to a week in jail
it will be ok hopefully he won't do this again because the second time is worse and from that p[oint on it gets worse |

The judge apparently appointed the public defender who is hired by the county to represent people who can't afford their own attorney. Your son will probably get whatever is the standard sentence for a first time DUI defendant. |

He will most likely get the standard sentence for a DUI conviction, which varies from State to State. Usually the Driver's License gets suspended, he will have to pay a huge fine, he will be on probation for a while, and he will have to go to some classes. The best thing you can do, as a mom, is make sure he learned his lesson. |

If you can, it's usually better to pay for an attorney. They can be more selective with their case load. It'll cost about $2000 for the whole procedure. If not, public defenders will be OK.
He'll get through it. Don't worry. He'll be quite a bit lighter in the wallet for a few years though. |
