Neighbor rides very loud dirt bikes all day on suburban street, can I call the cops?

It's impossible to watch television or be on the phone with my window open in the summer when he's riding.

Yes. There are probably city ordinances against it plus the dirt bike probably isn't registered and "street legal".

Yes, you can report distrubing the peace.

Lela A
yes, call the police and let them handle the bike issues

Burt C
Yes, you can..I agreed with the first question..Noise polution
and disturbing the peace...
You do not have to give your name to the police, just tell them that you are a concern neighbor and it is harmful to children in the area

If it is a dirt bike, then it more than likely isn't street legal. So he shouldn't be riding it on the street.

Plus, noise pollution is noise pollution any time of day.

why haven't you called the police yet?

Puller58
If he has no license on the bike, sure. If he does, all you can do is try. Depends on the local traffic laws and noise laws.

shur thang! call em up!

quesodemono16
yes... there is such a thing as "Disturbing the Peace"... and they're definitely disturbing your peace!

I don't think you can, but you can try. Where I live, there are noise restrictions, but those are at night. See if other neighbors complain about it too, if there are a lot of people that complain, maybe calling the cops will fix it.

I am trying to see both sides here but I keep finding myself swaying toward the kid on the bike out having some fun! I understand it bothers you...He isn't riding it at night..thank god..Wonder if there is somewhere he can go to ride his bike? If so, suggest he goes there. If not, talk with them and maybe they will cut down the riding time. I hate to see you spoil all the fun for the dirt bike riders..Keep you windows closed and ur air on..Its summer!! Also if you work days, ask him to ride while ur at work. Hopefully there is a place close buy that he is allowed to ride his bike. He probably doesn't have a way to get there tho. I wouldn't call the police. He is just trying to have fun and its ur neighbor, it would really stir up trouble I think.

You could try to talk to him first, but then if you do end up calling the cops...he will know it was you. I guess if you don't know him at all, then you should just call the police or sheriff and have them take care of it. If you know the person, then maybe you try talking to him first.
