Even if you don't get jail time, having something like that on your record is going to mess with the rest of your life. Kiss any good job opportunities goodbye unless your employer is looking for a drug procurer. I hope that your weren't going to sell those drugs to kids cause if you were, then you should go to jail for a long, long, time.

Two pretty hefty possession crimes. OUCH! That's gonna hurt. Get a lawyer, a good one, now!

The drugs were found in a car that you were driving, you are responsible for anything in that car while it's in your possession.

You MIGHT get an easier time if your friend will cop to the possession of the drugs. But don't count on that. Rat your pal out and agree to testify against him in court (through your lawyer of course, make sure you get a deal for cooperation).

That's the only way I see you coming out of this in anything close to good condition, and that's a real long shot!

Well unless the friend you were giving a ride is the fall guy you're looking at some serious time. I would say a minimum of two years but no more than 15.

If the drugs were yours your best bet, assuming you don't mind wittness protection, is to turn informant for a lesser charge. There is almost no way to prove to that your intent was not to sell these drugs, even if you're just the transport. Even if you were the jury will see this and they will say lock you up.

You might want to turn informant just to get yourself the hell out of dodge. I know growing up around here, most gangs would write you off if you got cought with that amount of drugs because they assume you'd rat them out - no honoring the code of silence these days.

Like some of my old buddies might say - Its a situation where no matter how you look at it - you're f***ed.

If you don't want to be a narc you don't want wittness protection, then take the best deal the DA will give you and just do your time quietly. There will probably be programs availible through the prison that if you complete you will be given a reduced sentance. But even if you don't get the protection and get out with just a slap on the wrist, people will think you snitched and you'll be in trouble with them. Best to just do your time.
