New Law Proposed - Should we taser people if we do not like what they say ?

NO!!!! The central point of a democratic government is that it is ruled by the people---government of the people, by the people, and for the people. All the elected officials are elected to serve the best interest of the public. The public collectively and the public as individuals has a right to question its leaders---this is what democracy is all about. The officials are the servants of the people.

For democracy to work people must speak up, and sometimes the officials don't like it---but that is the way it is. Police often use charges of disturbing the peace to discourage and punish people who raise questions----(I found this info on a police website)

For democracy to work the public must take action an assert their rights, if they don't want to loose them!!!!

PUT THIS ON YOUR TO-DO LIST!!!!!----Get an ordinance passed in your city or a bylaw in your town prohibiting the use of tasers in your community. Some communities have already done this!!!!

If you live in a town you will have to present it to Town Meeting (which governs your town).

In a city the city council could pass this--- (but it not likely)
If you live in a city your be bet is to put it on the ballot as a local referendum.

WITHOUT PUBLIC PARTICIPATION THERE IS NO DEMOCRACY!!!!!!!

The rules were set up before he took the podium. He decided to ignore them. When you go to a political forum, there are too many "crazies" running around so law enforcement has a short time to defuse situations.

That is just dumb. The guy in question was making an @ss out of himself for TV. They should have beaten the @hit out of him. When the cops ask you to do something and you disregard their authority like he did, you should be stopped, period. If we are allowed to do what ever the hell we want, then we are in a sorry state. They gave him every chance to go peacefully.

He didn't get tazed because someone didn't like what he said. He got tazed because he was told to leave, then refused to leave, then resisted arrest and failed to comply with the police officer's orders. And yes, not cooperating with an officer who is arresting you is the same damn thing as resisting arrest. He was a complete idiot, he was out of line and he was non-compliant. He deserved what he got.

To start with, in just about any country but America, the guy would have been SHOT, and his dead body would have been dragged bleeding from the room.

To end with, the First Amendment specifically denies protection of speech designed to incite a riot.

need to start it in grade school. if he'd have been tased a few times in his youth he would mind his manners better. this is national indoctrination month, this is lesson one, citizens shall not question authority.

At least Kerry didn't send goons out among the audience and make sure everyone was on his side before speaking, ejecting anyone that might differ, like Bush ALWAYS does !!

No, but it looks like it is already in effect. The guy wasn't violent. He was simply asking questions. Too bad they weren't nice soft questions like they wanted I guess.

The police there are a disgrace.
