It's hard to tell. One could make the argument the cop was holding him down. Pity the video did not catch all of it.

that's funny I saw the same video you did and I didn't see what you saw. I saw a resistance of arrest and the officer putting them to the ground and cuffing them for it! Good job Officer!

Here's what I think.
I think that there were still skaters there with heavy skateboards who could have easily hit the officer while he was attempting to take the one skater in custody.
I think the skater actively resisted arrest, and the officer was doing what he needed to do to maintain control of the arrestee.
We don't know what happened before the arrest, and no one knows how many times these same skaters have been in the area. We also don't know what the arrest was for. The skater in custody could have committed any type of crime.
I also thik the person that posted this on you tube gave the video a very slanted and inflammatory title.

That is not what the business owners and witnesses said that actually saw the entire incident. They saw a group of teenagers who had been told several times by the business owners and police not to skateboard on the property. Then they saw one of them jump on the police officer's back while another tried to grab his legs and take him down and the other cheered them on. Then when the officer got the upper hand, the other pulled out his cell phone and started recording claiming police brutality. The clip you saw was recorded by the teenagers' friend. Funny that the clip doesn't show the other stuff, just the part they want you to see, huh.

As for the officer, he was given a paid leave while the incident was investigated. When the business owners and passers-by recommended that the officer be applauded for taking on the teens after they attacked him, he was given an extended vacation, an apology by the department, and an extended paid leave.

As for the little brats that tried to beat him up, they were arrested, charged with assault and battery, trespassing, resisting arrest, and set home with mommy and daddy.

yeah i don't think he did anything illegal. they didn't show what happened leading up to the first arrest but those kids were pretty stupid for trying to run from him. i would have taken them down too if they ran from me like that.

I think they were smart *** kids that don't understand that when the police tell you to shut up or get back they mean it. It is more for their safety and those around them. I would have arrested each and every one of the little brats.

Those kids were resisting. They earned what they got. I hope the kids spents a few days in juvie to think about the meaning of the word "respect".
