Officers, what's the wackiest excuse you've ever heard from a speeder you've stopped?

The one where a woman told me she couldn't see the speedometer as she had lost her contact lenses in the pool so she was rushing home for another pair.

What was a condition on her D/L??
**1** MUST WEAR CORRECTIVE LENSES WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICHLE

2 tickets, one for speeding and the other for fail to comply with license restrictions.

Many years ago, about 6 a.m. on Dec. 25, I stopped a car going 30 mph over the speed limit. The driver said, "You're giving me a ticket! But, officer, it's Christmas Day!"

Then there was a time when an officer stopped a lady for speeding, and the driver said. "I'll have you know that I'm the police chief's aunt!"
The officer said, "That's nice, ma'am. Maybe he'll pay the ticket for you."
(The police chief got a good laugh out of this one. He didn't pay the ticket)

I had a speeder tell me that he was speeding because his brakes were faulty. I towed his vehicle because it was unsafe.

Well, it wasn't that wacky, but it was hilarious to me. This one guy I pulled over for speeding had the audacity to say " Oh but officer, I'm late for my police academy" Is that what they teach you in the academy these days, to speed, lol.

Turn out, he wasn't even enrolled in any academy......

I'll bet they S*** when they find out that 1) Cleaning expenses are not covered [the offender will have to clean the seat, and their pants, themselves! Or they could buy a car detailing and a dry cleaning!] and 2) Yes, that is the amount that you owe the court, fine, fee and surcharge! [oops, another cleaning expense!]

A few years ago a man made the news for showing up to traffic court with his poop stained pants in a bag and very indignant that he got a ticket even though he told the cop he had to GO and that was why he was speeding. I think I would rather take the ticket than keep nasty underwear let alone take it to a court with me. People are crazy.

I once stopped a woman for twenty over the speed limit. She was a fairly portly gal, and (NO LIE) eating from a bucket of fried chicken when I walked up. After she wiped the grease from her driver's license, she proceeded to allude to the fact that she was so engrossed in the chicken that she did not realize she had been speeding. Must have been some daggum good chicken. Only in the south, I swear.

"I'm late for my wedding"!

The driver (groom) and three passengers were dressed in nice tuxedos and were 15 minutes late for the ceremony at the church!

I told them that the bride would rather have them late than dead and told them to slow down and let them go with a "congrats" and a warning.
