POLICE OFFICERS: Why don't you object to positive stereotypes of yourselves as much as negative ones?

Why is it O.K. to say that you're ALL upstanding citizens who always do the right thing every time no matter what, but not O.K. to say that you're ALL a bunch of donut-eating, wife-beating,gun-toting glorified gangsters?

Neither one is okay. Some of us are good all the time just as well some of us beat their wives and eat dough nuts. I for one have never hit my wife or like dough nuts but I have a gun that I use for hunting and for my job. Why is it that everyone that gets mad that they get arrested blame it on the police as a whole?

Show me someone who says, "you're ALL upstanding citizens who always do the right thing every time no matter what" and I'll object to it just as much as the negative sterotype. I have, I do, and I will continue to.

Doing otherwise is to ignore the plainly obvious; that we are as human as anyone else, and we do profoundly stupid things at times, just like anyone else.

Would you like it if I stereotyped you as a flaming idiot who's rants are unintelligent babbling crap? Or would you rather me say that you are an upstanding citizen that promotes excellent ideologies and articulates themselves very well? No one will agree to someone thats down talking them. Oh and just so your ego isnt all blown up at the moment, I used that second bit about upstanding citizen blah blah blah just as an example. Anyone can see that its actually the first description that fits you perfectly
