Not much. You can call the local authority (or whoever issued the ticket) and try to appeal to their better nature, but I wouldn't hold out much hope. Alternatively, you could wait til it goes to court and then try to appeal to the Magistrates to let you off, but be warned that they don't have much discretion; they are generally only able to consider a very limited range of defences (such as, are you not guilty for some reason, rather than did you have a good reason to park there) and if they don't find in your favour you could get costs against you as well.

If you did not have the money to pay the fine then you should not have parked there. The excuse your daughter was sick will not be accepted unless you can prove it was an absolute emergency. Indeed the court would probably look unkindly at your using your daughter as an excuse for your blatant action!

Be careful of following the advice given by the others whilst you can appeal it is unlikely to be successful and then court action will not only increase your fine but will likely accrue court costs as well and therefore you end up having to pay three or four times the amount!!!

Ring them and explain the situation. When I had a bad accident a few years ago my husband followed the ambulance in our car, parked outside A&E and got a ticket. He rang them up, explained, and they waived it. It's worth a try.

Depends what kind of restriction you were parked at. If there were lines or loading restriction for example the lines have to be drawn in a certain way. i.e end of them has to have a clear T shape. Look at highway code book and check the lines are right. If not they cant enforce it.

The way they will look at it is that your daughter wasn't that sick - or else you would have taken her to hospital. Chances are they won't accept this as a feasible reason. I would pay it and get on with it if I were you. If you refuse to pay it, you will end up going to court, and that will cost you a fortune.

You'l have to try and get the ticket revoked,there is a number and address on your parking ticket ,you will also need to get a letter from your docotors with time date etc etc etc as to why you were there ,don't hold your breath though as parkiing tickets are deemed the most important item to raise revenue
(1)parking and motoring offences death by hanging.
(2)litter dropping death by injection.
(3)murder ,rape,Â£200.00 when your let out and all the benefits you can stuff in your pocket then you can go out and do it again.

Find the person at your local council who has the discretion to overturn this. Then if possible make an appointment to go and see them. Take evidence of where you were and for how long and your bank statements/student loan forms etc...

Sorry but the rules apply to everyone, money or no money, they don't consider that it was an emergency and you will have problems proving it.

You can appeal against it, they may cancel it for you. Proof from the doctors surgery would also help.

For the most part mate your screwed, You could ask your doctor to write you a note explaing your story and your daughter. this could get them to drop it. it did work for us once

I doubt that they'll change their situation if you did park in a place where you shouldnt have e.g on double yellow lines etc

you will have to pay for your parking ticket otherwise thy can take you to court over it. The traffic warden should of allowed this if your daughter is poorly. I would call the parking shop people and explain, that your daughter ill, cant walk far this is very unerasonable. don't they have a heart these traffic wardens!!!
