People attcking fire crews?

It's simple really the scum that attack the fire crews know fine well that they wont get caught, and even if they do they are well aware of the fact that the courts will do nothing more than blame it on the firefighters themselves..

It's a sad state of affairs but we only have ourselves to blame, we allowed things to get this bad, we all allowed the govt to pass the laws that empowered the PC brigade to belittle the Police and the courts do nothing to stop it happening..

Personally, I'd make it mandatory that anyone attacking an emergency crew (all 999 crews) should face an automatic 1 year in prison (Without the possibility of "Time off for good behaviour" nonsense!), this minimum should of course be extended if the attack is serious or causes injury to the crews!
At the end of the day, until we all stand up to these thugs and demand that something be done, nothing will change....

It's disgraceful, these people put their lives on the line for all of us. In Devon they are fitting fire engines with cameras and sound equipment to try and catch the morons. Why people are being given the thumbs down baffles me, must be another moron on site.

In reply to your question, It discusting, apparently Tyne and Wear are being given swab kits to send off samples of DNA if they are spat at.

I wonder who these people ring when they have a house fire. Maybe their mates so they can all spit on it and put it out together.

Wow, havent heard of this in the US yet. Ummm, next time just let them put their own fire out. I bet they'll learn real quick the people whose their lives depend on.

And they should be able to defend themselves. If it takes a 150psi hose line to keep them safe while on the job then let em have it. Their are multiple attack lines on the trucks. There are a total of 3 hoses on our pumper truck... it takes 2 to put out the fire... Do the math! There should be a free hose laying around somewhere to handle that situation!

My husband is a firefighter and he does a good job, along with all the other members of his watch. Its disgraceful that when firefighters are prepared to do such a worthy job, there are idiots who think its acceptable to attack them. I wonder if they would be doing the same thing if it was THEIR homes that were on fire with THEIR families trapped inside?

I agree let the firefighters hose the scum they would soon stop.As to the prat who said they must of annoyed the people well pardon me what do you do for a living would you like to be spat at or have stones thrown at you for serving the wrong big mac.Also they prevented people returning to or hosing their homes for their own safety.

Sadly it is becoming that way. We had problems a while back in a particularly rough area of the city, where the fire fighters were being called out to hoax calls, or fires that were started deliberately and then they were being attacked. The Fire Service refused to enter the estate unless it was under police escort in the end.
Still lets hope it's someone they know that needs help while they are attending to the childish pranks!

I find this entire thing quite baffling. Why on earth would someone want to do such a thing. It is the same as people who get drunk, and then hurt themselves (or get hurt by others) and then go into hospitals and attack people who are trying to help them

EDIT: we all have the same amount of thumbs down. Whoever is doing it is not very clever, or he/she would have varied the amount, and made it less obvious.

i don't understand why people are trying to harm firefighters, because after all they are here to help. and they have a really tough job without hooligans making it worse

well people do things for a reason, therefore these fire fighters probably did something to piss people off. maybe they took too long to get there. maybe they refused to go in and save someone.

even in California (wild fires) they prevented people from saving their own homes. where people wanted to use their own hose and wet their house before the fires spread. but fire fighters woundnt let them.

sorry but i think its everyones right to save their home, even if they die doing it, they should have this right.
