My boyfriend was convicted of Domestic Violence (along with his then ex girlfriend). They were both taken to jail and convicted of Domestic Violence. I was there, so for those of you so inclined to believe he is a violent woman beater, you are soo wrong. This girl tried everything to break us up, so when she could not she came to our house to confront him and me. He got in the middle of this, tried to stop her from hurting me, him, and herself. She broke the glass on our front door, cutting her wrist, trying to stab him with the glass, he sustained some cuts and scratches from this, she sustained cuts and scratches, so they took them both. He missed 2 classes, because of other financial obligations. Missed court date, warrant was issued. He is not a violent person. He has never raised his voice, or hand to anyone.

Unfortunately, with DV, men are almost always guilty until proven innocent. His best bet would be to say nothing to authorities and hire a good lawyer. Also, your testimony will be very important and damaging to the prosecution, so be prepared to talk to his lawyer. They'll try and "throw the book" at him and make him look like the bad guy he's not. With a good lawyer, he may be able to get it dismissed, or the lawyer can argue for a much more acceptable outcome, especially if he plead not guilty. Unfortunately, his missing a court date is most likely inexcusable, so he'll likely have to wait in jail for the remainder of the case, unless he has a very good excuse (and again, a good lawyer).
Finally, if all else fails, be prepared to write a letter stating your anger that justice has been mishandled in your case (if that is, in fact, the case). Send it cc to all parties concerned, especially the prosecutor (I'm assuming it's a DA or a deputy DA). Send it to the mayor of your city, the chief of police, city councilmen, governor, maybe even senators and congressmen, maybe the press. The more people you let into the room to see the injustice, the more pressure the DA will have to drop the case. This is, of course, assuming an injustice has been done. Make sure before you do this you revise/edit to ensure your final copy will be grammatically perfect. Before you send it you may want to run it past his lawyer.
