Petit larceny First time, Got a ticket for it and im 18?

I got caught shoplifting 45 dollars worth in items today and only got a ticket for it and i have to appear for court next month? is their any way i can keep this from going on my record. I know it was stupid and I have never done anything like this I know i should have known better.
