i've been charged with theft 4, a petty misdemeanor.i have gone to court for my plea and arraignment and now going to get a public defender and go to court again for a sentencing.. in hawaii what is my sentencing? will a petty misdemeanor stay on my record for ever? any kind of info will help me.. (no i dont wanna hear your stupid or n e thing negative, i made a mistake and learned from it) i just want some advice thank you.. this is my 1st time in trouble with the law..

can the fine really be any more then my $1000 bail i had to pay.. i hope i get money back from that

Criminal records are like tattoo's they are permanent. However, like tattoo's they can be removed, but it takes time and is expensive.
Most first time offenders get probation. A petty misdemeanor theft will probably not even warrant probation, and you will probably be let off with a fine. Expect to pay somewhere around 5 to 10 times the value of the item stolen. |
