Police: Why do you place Local over Supreme Law?

We all know that Constitutions are superior documents and any lower law which conflicts with the higher law is null and void at its inception. Yet police at all levels often ignore the Federal or State Constitutions and enforce Statutes and Ordinances even when these inferior laws deprive We The People of significant rights.

Examples range from demands to show ID to gun laws and all over the 4th Amendment.

Why do you do this? And more to the point, when a citizen calls you on it, why do you react so emotionally, as though the person doing this is committing a terrible act by expecting you to, if not have a love for the law, at least obey it.

There are plenty of laws which are blatantly unconstitutional on their face. California's gun laws come to mind.

If you feel that your constitutional rights have been violated, you are more than welcome to have the courts right that wrong.

At the point where you are being encouraged to obey the local ordinance or statute, it is in your best interest to do so. You can address your understanding of the law later. For the moment, the officer has a reason for having you comply; the local law is immediate, whereas the constitutional right is specific, and you are possibly misinterpreting it.

If you are asked to produce identification, it is because the officer has a legitimate need to know who you are. If you are exercising your gun rights in a volatile situation, the officer will want the weapon secured before continuing his investigation. If you are unable to understand the officer's instructions, he may have to be a little more forceful in making you understand.

Well i'm not a cop or anything but the reason is that the constitution was set up to be amendable and able to change with the times. It was also written broadly for interpurtation. To answer your example, even though the constitution states that everybody has the right to bear arms time and time again people have proved to be irresponsible with them and so not EVERY person should be able to purchase a gun. The constitution says nothing about what to do if someone abuses that priveledge because back then if someone abused it they found an old tall tree tied a rope to it and hung the person. Now days many states are against that so now they sit and rot in jail and get out on parole, i don't think anybody wants a criminal to get his hands on a gun after he has already commited a crime. If he did get a gun again it would be an illegal way so that would be more time in jail the next time he was caught. I don't get what your trying to get across by the ID because that's a law that must be there because with all of the age requirements. The fourth amendment is a funny one because the police must have a warrant to search your house, but yet if your door is cracked or a window is open it is considerded out for the public to see so the police then have their probable cause because it is in plain sight.

The US government is corrupt, it's laws and constitution are lost and destroyed. Your rights as a person are almost completely gone and soon will be. You need your freedom just as anyone does. My advice is first, educate yourself and all of those around you that you love and care for. Once you have done this, go about acquiring guns for yourself and all those just mentioned. Learn how to use them appropriately and when you should and should not use a gun. Remember to think and live with freedom, not fear. Once you accomplish this you may live your life by the way you were intended to as an American citizen, when a police officer tries to pull you over or give you problems, explain to him calmly the ideas you follow in the constitution. If he doesn't comply with you, arrest him, if you need help call in your brothers and sisters. Our public servants are now evil and need to be controlled, the world is suffering because of our inability to act against our own government. The government should be afraid of us, not we of it.
