Police legal question about tint.?

Why get tinting if it's illegal in SC? You're asking for trouble, because you're getting tinted even when you KNOW that it's illegal there. How irresponsible is that? Very.

You're asking for a website, but I suggest you call your local PD and ask them. They're the ones who will be stopping you - not us!

why would you get tint on your windows that is illegal in both places? cops arent stupid, and it could take them less than five minutes to find out if it is legal in pa or not. Also, you will eventually have to switch your tags anyway, so why not just play it safe.
if your windows are tinted darkly anyway, the chances of you getting pulled over increase almost exponentially. why you would try to get away with something like that is beyond me.
as for what is legal or not, im from Maryland, but i live really close to the PA border. the law in MD is that you must be able to read the text on your drivers license through the tint when the license is pressed up against the driver's side window.
for front windows, this is the general rule across the country, but for back windows, it may be different.
i go to school in pa, and cars here have darker tint than i ever saw at home. but you are moving anyway, so why should that matter.
how about this: just dont do it and save yourself time, money, and trouble.

If the tint is illegal in the state you are operating your vehicle, you can be cited for it.

In fact, there are a few states that with an illegal tint they consider the vehicle not road worthy and will have the vehicle towed to impound.

Prior to releasing it, the illegal tint must be removed by an authorized person and the vehicle will have to be inspected by an officer.

It would be the same as having a headlight out or a taillight out... it doesn't matter where the vehicle is registered, if you are in a state that has a traffic law against those infractions, you can be cited.

In South Carolina, they will fine you according to South Carolina law....not Pennsylvania law.

And if you know it's illegal, why be immature enough to do it?

they could pull you over if you were from mars and ur space ship had tinted windows, you have to abide by the law and ignorance is no excuse, i did the same thing and was made to chip it of with my keys at the road side lol bad times, dont do it ull regret it when you get stopped
