Police training vs marine training, which is tougher?

Well being a former Marine and now a Cop, I can say they both were very tough but in different ways.
Marine Corps boot camp was 13 weeks long and was physically demanding for the most part. It was rough to not be able to speak with your family other than by letter. Being demeaned and led to feel like you are 2 points below whale sh*t.
Academy training was very physically demanding as well. I didn't go to one of those academies where you show up during the day and go home at night. I had to stay there for 27 weeks. You would only get to go home on the weekend if you passed all of your tests. (I did fortunately). Sometimes you would get a few hours on a Wednesday night, but that was very rare. Physical training was very hard. I think a PT session at the academy was much harder than in boot camp. I was running longer distances in the academy.
All in all, I really can't say one was harder than the other because the pros and cons kind of evened out with eachother. But, maybe the academy was easier for me to deal with because I was already a Marine.

no disrespect to police officers but marine training. my brother is going though training right now and u would not believe how fit they must be. my brother thought he was in shape till he jioned the marines.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that training for the Marine Corps is harder than the Police Force.

Your talking about two entirely different formats of training,
Your military training is intially set up to gear you twords
sweep search and destroy, I don't think the citizens of Kansas
or anywhere USA would want that influence in there city,

Law enforcement is about securing the Peace, Enforcing
the criminal code of the jurisdiction they are sworn members
in,. Your Marine training will give you a leg up in the phsicality
of the police training,, However your mental structure has to
be as strong as your back,, there in lies the rub,

I say Marines, hands down but its different now than if it had been 'back in the day'. Today's Marines (and military) are trained a lot different than they used to be. They are still the best of the best, but even my dad (Walking Dead) agrees that the times have changed.

Police Officers have very good training as well, but it is a different kind of training. They have to be trained and prepared to NOT hurt someone - The main goal being to serve and protect. They are trained in the safe way to apprehend in any situation, but also socially trained too.

I don't think the training is comparable.

Your question is too general. When you say tougher, I assume you mean the physical aspect. Some, well probably many, police agencies have pretty lax standards on their PT. South Carolina's Highway Patrol is one example of an academy that rivals the PT standards of Marine boot camp. You also have to realize that USMC boot is 13 weeks, law enforcement academies can run up to 30 weeks. To be honest though, you'll have to hope that someone that has gone through boot camp for the USMC as well as an LE academy responds, to get a good answer.

Marines but most police will tell you there's is harder just because they want to look like big men.

I wouldn't have compared this to Police Training vs. Marines. Marines training is tougher, but how about State Highway Patrol vs. Marines. I was a Marine never a State Highway Patrol, but my recruiter told me years back. The Marines and State Highway Patrols kinda work together and there training is just the same. Keep in mind Marines boot camp is 13 weeks, and State Troopers are weeks if not months longer! State Troopers have to do a lot of running, hand to hand combat also. Also remember Marines are always together in training, wars, etc... Being a State Highway Patrol at times your closest back up is 10-15 miles down the freeway so you better be in great shape and able to fight!! All in all they are both tough! Like I said I'm a Marine, but I have friends thats Troopers. If any Marine on here wants to go through there training and think its going to be a walk in the park have fun!
