Police won't hire ex-soldier?

Police won't hire ex-soldier?

I have a family member by marriage only (thank goodness) that is a liar so you never know when she's telling a lie. Anyway, she told my mom in a conversation they were having that her husband tried to get hired by SAPD but they told him he had been to Iraq too many times. What do you think is this possible? If that's the case they won't be hiring soldiers because many soldiers are getting 2, 3 even 4 roatations I think her husband has been 3 times. What do you think is she lying again?

I had a friend who was in the Marine Corps and went to Iraq, he tried out for the SDPD, and they wouldn't take him because he's killed. I think the reason they don't take war vets is psychological.

I am an Army Veteran, and went to iraq, and tried for the SDPD, and they wouldn't take me.

In the movie Harsh Times, Christian Bale's character is an ex-Army Ranger and tried out for the LAPD but they wouldn't take him because of psychological reasons.

I think they are afraid of hiring war vets, for fear of getting someone with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

She's full of it. Military service (with an Honorary Discharge) is a plus for law enforcement.

It helped me with my hiring and my ERT membership. Many of us are Vets.

HE has to take a Mental evaluation test Prior to being
consittered If he is A MP he will be given A job.
PLUS their are alot of other things they look at service record
Personal evaluations by his platoon leader ETC.
If he has A ichie trigger finger tell him to go to VEGAS.
or montana they will hire any one....

She's lying. Soldiers make excellent officers. We have several that have done numerous tours in Iraq. They are some of our best. When applying for the job we rate armed forces experience above college degrees.

Probably lying. As someone in the field, the only reason they would disqualify someone for something like that is PTSD, or some other psychological problem. Going over seas does not matter at all.

liar liar pants on fire. I have never heard of such things. heck we have an officer in my town who is in the N. Guard. he was working with the police, got called up, served his country and than he came back to work. if they indeed say that, which i doubt, they might have been afraid he would would be called up yet again. but like i said..i very highly doubt that.

If he's been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder or is considered a "high risk" for post wartime stress, or was dishonorably dicharged they will refuse to let him into the police force.

However people in the military often choose a career path and get specialized training. If he has any police or law enforcement training through the military not only would he have high credentials, the army would probably even get him the job.

In all likelihood she's lying, has her facts mixed up or didn't tell you all the details. If they did turn him down, it probably was for reasons other than his service in Iraq.

She's lying. How many times you have been over there would have nothing to do with being hired or not hired there~!

I believe she is full of S-!T. If anything most departments are putting returning service folk on the "short list" of the hiring positions. The only reason I can think of possibly for turning him down as a vet is post traumatic stress disorder, or a really lousy personal reference from a CO.

rec
that is a big fat lie.

She is lying, because VA and Lawyers would love to take a case like this.

Sounds a lot like the stories some guys tell, how they couldn't re-enlist because they'd been TOO well trained as killers, and the military didn't want them anymore. Total fabrication.

i think the would let him on the forse because he has experiance with guns body armor and that stuff and they know that he helped our country and he wants to help us more . well that would be stupid of them to do that i think the would say heres a job how could someone be so stupid not to have a soldier on the forse. youre welcome

Stephanie
Definitely lying. They cant turn him down for a job due to what the military made him do. The only possible way it could be true was due to psychological issues. Was he in heavy fighting? Did they give him a pysch evaluation?

D
She is lying, must be other reason such as medical that would deny him a job with SAPD. Here in California, the Los Angeles and San Diego police department are quick to hire military members since military member have the discipline and work ethics to get the job done. Once hired, the military members still have to go through the training course.

I'm afraid so.

I don't know. It seems that the police department is full of unqualified doosh bags so it kind of makes sense that they'd turn down someone with allot of applicable training and skill.
