Vick has lots of $$$$$$, and that helps with his easy sentence, too.

Did your relative have a prior arrest record? Vick, O.J., etc. have one thing many people don't: $$$$ to hire a good defense team.

I have to say God only knows. I'd bet your relative had to serve all 5 years too. Go figure. I don't have much faith in the justice system these days.

I don't get it either. My grandson was tried as an adult and given "27" years at the age of fifteen years old for 2 counts of armed robbery. No one was injured and he plea bargained for what he thought was a short sentence. The judge threw the book at him and I ,his legal relative was not even informed till it was over. My grandson had run away to another state, and he had recently been released from an mental facility for teens.
Murders get off with less time than he did, and the court did not know or care to know all the facts!

Did your relative have other convictions? I am not disagreeing with you at all but that might play a small role in it. Vick should have received more then 23 months. He should have received 5 years or more.

It is called money and fame, He's got both, you're relative is normal just like everyone else trying to make it in this country. It is sad that the ones who really do not need much help, are getting it more. Then there's us, who need it the worst, and get nothing.

I't seems that our justice system is more interested in Money than justice, if you are rich and famous,then your basically above the so called law. Pay out and off the right judges,lawyer's etc... and get a slap on the wrist, the average person get's hammered, i can't offer an explination, but i do agree that our nation, justice system & all are in a sorry, sad state and geting worse all the time.

Don't listen to the poster above me. He may or might not have done it, but the fact that he knew it was going on at his personal residence, makes him as guilty. Yea, our US Justice system is no good. I totally agree with you. One was murder and torture in my opinion and the other was just stealing. I am sure the judge and jury that sentenced your relative would have thought differently, if their pets were murdered by Michael Vick.

Because until the end of time celebrities will be treated like royalty....look at OJ. There is currently a man serving in a Colorado Prison for rape, kidnapping, attempted murder on a good civilian, and murder of the woman he raped. He was sentenced to death row, but because some poor soul had a bible in the court-room, his sentence was reduced to life without parole.

There is justice in a lot of cases or the jails would not be overcrowded. Celebrities just think they can get away with murder, etc., and sadly, they do.

it's like it has been for a long, long time in this country... all men are created equal... if they have the money to prove it.

personally, i believe if they went back to public hanging for murder, right there and then when they had caught the person red-handed and there was no doubt they did it, they would cut down on a lot of crime in the country. people would learn there were consequences to their actions and they had to face those consequences. the way it is now, people aren't afraid of the judicial and penal system because it's like a big joke. and there are no real punishments. so i'm thinking if they went back to the days of 'taking them behind the woodshed' there wouldn't be a problem like the ones we have. but that's just my soapbox for today. sorry, i've been reading the laura ingalls wilder books. they knew how to distribute justice.

If there was any justice in the world, Elvis would be alive and all the impersonators would be dead. Justice is still a purchased commodity in our country. The presumption of innocence is a joke. Eighty five percent of criminal cases are plea bargained. Our jails are overflowing with people who do not belong there. If you cannot afford an attorney, an incompetant overworked one will be appointed by the system. Unless you either have or can create a high profile for your case, you are at the mercy of people who are probably not your peers. It's not property, but money we care more about than living things!
