yes a state police in a chase can leave his jurisdiction so can other officers.. and i some cases even cross state lines.. |

I am a Police Officer for LAPD. The Hwy Patrol in the State of California and most States that do not have a State Police Agency are the State Police. Also any Police Police Officer has Peace Officer powers in the entire State not just the City or County they are assigned to. |

If it the State Highway Patrol, Yes they are the top agency that does. No if, and and but's, they do. if one runs past a state line, the next state will pick up the chase with the first state, as they notify each other, and yes that first state can chase you to and into the next state, and will have ton's of back up all the way. |

In Alabama the Highway Patrol has jurisdiction over the highways.(Exclusive in a fatality on any roadway within the state)
The Police within their jurisdiction.
The Sheriff within s/he's county.
But that being defined, all are A.P.O.S.T. (Alabama Police Officer Standard Training) certified officers.
Thus all are recognized to arrest within this state as well as reciprocal agreements with many surrounding or adjoining states.
Also a citizen has a power of arrest.
Then you have the State Attorney generals police force.
All have an equal power concerning arrests. |
