I went to jiffy lube and got my vehicle inspected (it passed), and wanted to pay for my registration and get the sticker. They were out of stickers so I did not get my new registration. About 5 days later, I got pulled over going 45 mph in a 40 mph zone. I had not yet had the chance to go back to Jiffy Lube and get my new registration and sticker. The officer gave me a citation for expired registration and didn't give me a speeding ticket. What do I do? Do I plead not guilty, or guilty. And if guilty, how much will this citation cost me. I'm in Southern Utah by the way and I'm 21 years old.

Usually judges are fairly lenient about this. Typically they will dismiss the case if you bring your receipt from Jiffy Lube that shows that you paid for the registration and it was valid at the time of the stop.
However, there are some judges that will not dismiss the case, because they believe that you should have valid stickers on your license plate at all times, but that is very rare. If this does happen, you will receive a $40 fine, because of the compliance laws in Utah.
Next time try and do it earlier in the month so something like this doesn't happen, because I can imagine how much of a pain it is. |

You should have shown the cop the receipt from Lube - Go get it and then show up in court with sticker - You will be ok - Next time DO NOT leave unitl you get sticker - Better yet, become a member of the AAA - |

Not guilty, provide a copy of the receipt showing it was prior to the ticket. Get the mechanic to write a small note on some letter head or something from the shop, and then explain it in a letter to the judge.
If they don't throw it out, explain it in person at your court date.
the law doesn't like to punish people who are clearly Innocent... well, not usually anyhow :-)
as for the cost, it's probably on the back of the citation, or somewhere on the middle right side of the front. IF not, call the court (a phone number should be somehwere on there)

go and get your sticker than show it to the court judge and you will be ok to go without paying any money so dont worry just go and get your sticker before court date been there done that |
