Question about cops/parties...?

A bunch of 17 year old teens at a party ... here is a likely scenario if the party is held in NY:

The music gets a little too loud, neighbors complain, police respond.

Police see young looking people drinking alcohol, distribute minor consumption of alcohol tickets all around. Police confiscate alcohol (it's destroyed later ... such a waste!). All minors are held until parent or guardian picks them up.

Then the courts get involved! All minors convicted of alcohol related charges pay a big fine, get community service and alcohol counseling ... and lose their driving privileges for one year!

If anyone leaves the party and crashes on the way home ... the property owners are liable for the damages they cause! Once the partiers licenses are restored ... their insurance rate goes through the roof for the next 5 years or so.

NJ law is probably very close to NY law ... I'd do some serious research before the party if I were you!

They can break in if they see something illegal going on inside.
Consequences would be, anyone caught would get some kind of minor in posession of alcohol sitation. And the homeowners would get in big trouble.

They just passed a law here that makes parents liable for teens drinking in their house regardless if the parents know or not.. Do it the old school way and find a lake.. Crash out...
If you do it at the house close the curtains. Have a few designated sober people, so that if the cops do come they can deal with them in the fallowing ways of 1) Asking what the problem is (in a nice manor) 2) Do not let them in with out a warrant 3) To avoid trouble at all cost do not let them in with out a warrant. 4) People need to look out for each other, no one can prevent you from drinking underage, so just be responsible There's a video on you tube about knowing your rights. Find it and watch it. Make sure that one of the designated people in the house is 18 . It would be better for a legal adult to deal with law enforcement. Because the police can use the fact that your minors to get in the house possibly. And let me state again.. I do not condone juvinile drinking... ESP when innocent parents can be held liable and inprisoned for this. So make sure you brush up on the laws in your area and your rights.

If they see or smell or hear of anything illegal going on in the house than yes they can enter with out permission. I suggest you dont have an after at a house unless it is really small.
Kids could be fined for underage drinking if they get in their cars it could be a DUI and the kids parents can be arrested.

As a teen, I would say that if there is at least one adult in the party that has an idea about the booze drinking then you won't be in trouble.

Wait... Don't you have to be 18+ to be able to drink. (I don't know. Maybe i'm wrong)

And if i were you, i'd wouldn't bring the drinks outside in the open view. Just to be safe. I've been to and seen party's go from fun to inapropriate to nothing.
