if someone were to come into my house and threatens me do i have the authority to use whatever force to get them out of my house if they dont leave or could i be arrested..?
or if they were standing outside of my house threatening and not leaving ..if i call the cops will they even be able to do anything?

Typically it will depend upon state.
Here in CO, we have the aptly nicknamed "Make My Day" Law. This allows a resident to use basically whatever force they feel necessary to stop an intruder in their home, if the resident feels threatened in any way. The resident is not criminally or civilly liable. My understanding is that not all states have this type of law...so in some places you might be liable.
If the person is outside your home and causing a disturbance, then it is likely they have committed any number of offenses, (trespassing, harassment etc) and thus police action would be taken. |

If you are protecting your self the law says you have the right to use "deadly force" if necessary. In other words if someone is in your home threaten you, you have the right to shot the ba**ard. If he is outside your home, but still threatening you, if you call the police they will arrest him/her. They will probably charge him/her with disorderly conduct and terroristic threats, if he/her threatened you with bodily harm and trespassing. They could go so far as stalking if the guy is following you around.
But David is right. I read a story where a man was trying to break in the older ladies house, he broke in through the sky ligth in her home but when he fell, he fell on a butcher knife. It stabbed him through the shoulder. That guy sued the old lady and won, if you can believe that sh*t. HE WON. Me personally, I think I would have just shot the ba**ard and then called 911. |

If they are on your property, the cops can remove them.
If they are inside, you can use force to remove them if they are armed or if you believe your life to be in danger.
Though I've actually heard it's better to kill an invader than hurt them. They can press charges otherwise. It's stupid but true.
