how many people out of 100 that you came in contact with were/are actually informed of there constitutional rights, plus what state you work in would help

Out of a hundred field contacts..........that is basically anyone I talk to or deal with on a professional level (i.e. not the guy behind the counter at the Stop and Rob that I buy a coke from) I would guess that four in a hundred actually know the Bill of Rights. This is a wild guess but I deal with a lot of people that know bits and pieces of it and have some wild ideas about what their rights are. Most people know what the Miranda rights encompass because they see it on TV all the time. However, most people have no clue how their Miranda Rights work or when they can invoke them. They also have no clue about how the remaining Amendments apply to them in criminal cases/investigations. Most people could not even right the basic meaning of the various Amendments on a piece of paper without cheating. |

First I need to know what you consider contact. Do you mean EVERYONE I contact? In that case, fewer than 10 out of 100. Everyone would include the shop owner that calls because somebody broke a window at his place overnight, the people involved in a traffic accident, the guy asking for directions, and lots of people who are not involved in criminal activity.
If you mean those that are suspects, or may be suspects, about 85%. If I am not asking them any questions related to the crime, I don't inform them of their rights. No need to. |
