Question for police officers?

when someone calls the police station to complain about something (an ababndoned car, barking dog, illegal activity, etc...) the secretary always asks for your name.
Do you check the persons's age and record of the person who called with the computer?

because if yes then that would explain why they don't take me seriously , I'm 19 and everytime I call to complain about my neighbors noisy dog they say they will send someone over and nobody ever comes, and I see police cars driving down the street!!! and none of them stop!

So you see, they DID send someone. No need for them to stop if there's no dog barking.

Every dispatcher has a 'nut case file' next to their desk.

That's where your complaints are filed.

Nine times out of ten we will not send anyone out for a noisy dog. It is not an offense for a dog to bark - it's natural.
If the dog is in danger, or has attacked someone, then yes, we will send an officer out.

And no, we do not check your age. The administrator asks for your name so that we have a reference.

When you call 911 or the non-emergency number of a police department, your information is collected if there is a need to contact you for further statement on an incident.

As for police driving by, if the dog is not barking at the time the officer is driving by, they may not stop, but call the home of the barking dog and let them know that there is an issue. Some other things to think about, what time of day is it? If it is during the day, dogs bark at everything that moves, if it is at night, after what is considered "quite hours" it may be taken much more seriously.

In reading your message, it sounds as though you call about the dog quite frequently. Have you contacted your local government office to see if there is an ombudsman that can work with you and your neighbor about the noise that is made by thier dog.

If you live in a one horse town, were the secretary is also the dispatcher, she may have the nut case file next to her, but they take your name so they will have a reportee, someone to refer to when we speak with the person with the offending dog! The officer may not hear the dog barking when he drives by, reason why the continue on down the street, but they should at least speak with you in order to get more information!!! Sounds like you may a slacker or two on that department!!!

They can if they like. But all calls have to be checked on. If there is no noise ordnance in your town or county they is nothing that can be done. But if you are calling in bull calls they can come arrest you for fileing a false police report. They ask for you name and phone number in case they cant find what you are calling about or need to contact you back they can.
