Question if a Police officer pulls some one over & another driver sees what is going on is it ok to film the?

police because don't a lot of police officers have cameras they are filming with also wouldn't it be against a persons rights for a police officer to be filming some one that they pulled over ?

Absolutely. To do so while they are doing a traffic stop is perfectly fine, even if they tell you to stop. Some areas make it to where you have to notify an individual that you are recording them, due to eavesdropping laws. If questioned, just very politely say that you are recording them on video and sound and that you are just checking them out. They shouldn't have a problem. They're public officials and you have every right to. I encourage you to, so that the police know that they are on film and will think twice before any wrongdoing on their part.

The police film it so that you can't say they tried to rape you or whatever. The tape never lies.

No it is not against anyone's rights to film a traffic stop. You have no expectation of privacy on the streets. It's not like I am filming you inside your house, you are on a public street. Furthermore, I am detaining you on a traffic stop. I love it when people come to complain on me and they file some idiotic complaint that does not even come close to what is on the traffic stop video. That has happened more then a few times.

Someone may video me as long as they don't get in my way or interfere with my traffic stop. That is going to require them to stay a good distance away for safety reasons. If they get out of their car and approach the stop they are going to be asked to return to their vehicle and if they fail to stop interfering with my stop I will arrest them. It's common sense really.
