My friend was caught shoplifting in a grocery store, for a bag of skittles (whoopie, not that much eh?) During the confrontation in the back room, he said that the police officer did not press any charges against him, because it was his first offense, and something about the price of the candy being too low? Oh, and he's also 15, if that could help. He was taken home to talk to his parents, and apparently he was assigned to complete a certain amount of community service hours (I'm not too sure how much). Once again, NO charges were put into the incident, no court dates whatsoever. Just simply, community service hours. There is also a number to call, to know what you will be doing for your hours.
1. Will he need an interview (in person) to find out what he will be doing? Or could the conversation be simply done on the phone?
2. Is there a deadline as to when he needs to complete it? I remember him telling me that he asked the officer the same question, and he replied "It doesn't matter, as long as you do it"
3. Can he choose the days he can work on his community service hours? He's quite busy, and he wants to do them whenever he's free, and when he's not busy.

Normally a Judge will set Hours and a Due by Date and give a list of places you can complete the community service hours. Not an Officer? |

Personally I don't. I know there are good cops and bad cops out there, but the bad cops have really made the rest of them look bad as far as I am concerned.
