Thanks for your replay's. I must point out that I am not doing benefit fraud. I had claimed on where I lived, as I had been made redundant. When I left I ended the claim. Four months later I am contacted by phone & asked to attend an interview, which was under caution. At the end of the interview I was told they would contact me regarding further action, this has not happened. I am interested to establish if there is a time limit between an interview under caution were allegations are made against you and then being charged with an offence or informed of on further action. Sorry for not being as accurate with my question as I may have been.

There is no time limit from interview to charge.
The longer it goes without you hearing anything is good for you. If in doubt ring and speak to the officer who interviewed you. |

If you are talking about Housing or Council Tax benefit there is no time limit on when they must contact you again. It can sometimes take months. If you haven't done anything wrong then don't worry they will eventually send you a letter saying they are not taking it further. |

if they have not contacted you yet and its been quite some time then they obviously are not taking it any further |

it can take up to 6 months for them to get back into contact with you for anything like that. i had to claim income support last year after my husband walked out. He paid for our sone school uniform and i didnt see it necessary to tell the dwp about it, anyway to cut a long story short they contacted him for maintenance interview and he said he had bought the uniform and wasnt prepared to give me anything else at the time. they took it as he had handed me the cash and i had a letter 2 days ago demanding 69.00 back in overpayment ( the cost of the uniform) otherwise i will be taken for interview under caution if i refuse. this all happened last july |
