Re question-shoplifting- How much longer?? 10 points?

Im requestioning this because I noticed someone's answer from my last question which was:

I did it. Im 13 and I shoplifted. Yes, I know Im a thief and I am NOT AT ALL proud of what I did and I'll NEVER do it again but it has been almost 2 months and nothing has happened.
By the way I live a few doors away from the shop and they do have CCTV and posters of no shoplifting.

Am I safe now? Too late to confess, and Im not going to confess or do it again. The apprehension has taught me a good lesson. I want a good future and I dont want this to ruin my life.

So am I now safe? If they havent done anything by now then will they still check the CCTV footage?
BY THE WAY I GO THERE DAILY, so they know how I look like. I dont act like a suspect though.

Now, someone said I have to wait 6 months - 1 year before I can be sure Im in the clear. I CANT WAIT THAT LONG!!! It is a convenience store, and I cant be under anxiety for that long!

There could many reasons that they haven't called u, lets explore a few
(1) May not have viewed footage or the crime wasn't detected.
(2) Views of who commited shoplifting is blured or not recgonizeable.
(3) What was taken may not warrant arrests or
(4) Just waiting to catch you in the act again

I think u are probably alright and they or not after u but they maybe watching you so I definetly would suggest not doing it again.

Your taking advice from a 13 year old!? In reality the store has until the statute of limitations runs out to file charges. This is at least one year if not more. Your anxiety is understandable but the facts remain the same if you renter store they can arrest you if they still have the evidence of theft. You can also visit the forum site below that answers questions from accused shoplifters with no judgment or sarcasm

Sending a letter with money or without is not smart at all. Its a confession! That letter could wind up in court not smart at all.

If I was you I would send the store a letter with an apology and the money for the item / items you stoled. I think you are probably off the hook. But you can feel better by sending them the letter and money. You don't have to sign your name, and you can type it if you want. Do the right thing and reimburse the store and apology. Good Luck to you and I hope you truly learned something from your ordeal.

I think you're safe.

Best to earn money legitimately in future.

What did you steal?

you should be okay, assuming you didn't steal anything too costly. I don't think the police will be bending over backwards for larceny of a $10 item taken by a 13 year old.

Do these places really need to put up signs saying No Shoplifting? You must not have been the only shopper in the past who was confused about the shoplifting policy.

Well that was pretty dumb since you go there everyday and you live close to it? If they wanted to nab you they so could.
