Running from security?

I’m 15, me and my friend where having a bit of fun getting chased off security guards, we both walk out of the shop with a tagged item, and if a security guard chases after us (surprisingly most of the time they don’t when it goes off) we drop the item and run like hell.

Basically today we didn't get so lucky and my mate got caught but I didn't

So I wanted to ask if is their like a "deliberate evasion of security" crime? Like trying to escape the police? Or what ever?

I’m probs going to get charged for theft but it was way worth the last few months fun

I don't want to hear your views on shoplifting i don't care to be honest,

Unless the security personnel are commissioned officers (which can happen in the more upscale department stores in America), no. Running from a security officer is not the same as running from a police officer. But you can be charged with some type of disorderly conduct for behaving in a physically stupid manner that is likely to result in someone getting hurt.

It is definitely shoplifting. It could also be considered burglary (a felony) since you have a pattern and practice of entering stores with the intention of taking things you have no intention of paying for out of the store.

Additionally pissing off security guards is a really good way to end up on the receiving end of some REALLY trumped up charges. The report they will write up about your "mate" could quite easily be padded with a whole slew of extra things that will justify more serious criminal charges.

Taking the items out of the store without paying is enough. You won't be charged with running from security. You will be PROPERLY charged with shoplifting.

What you are doing is not a prank it is theft and you will get caught. We can only hope for your sake that when it occurs you will still have brains enough to learn something productive from the experience.

Just the shoplifting. Security guards aren't peace or police officers. It's the same as if you were running from any other employee of that store.
