After 31 yrs of Law Enforcement I have gone through nearly every brand there is. It's ALL a matter of preference and how YOU treat the foot wear. I do recommend you have TWO pairs though. Wear one pair every other night and the other pair in between. Use a good insole support and keep your feet dry. If they get wet, take off your boots and change socks if possible. You should have ankle support too. Higher is better. Over the arch of your foot is the most vulnerable spot so look at some boots that have more material over that area. You're not going to need much lug sole unless you plan on climbing rocks on a manhunt... look for boots that grip in wet conditions (water, blood, urine, etc.) |

My moms a corrections officer and thats what I plan to do as soon as I get out of high school. My mom wears Timberland boots. Not like the buckskin color but they are like black boots. Not tall, but as tall as a pair of high top converse. I think they were around $100. I'm not sure how comfortable they are, but they look pretty confortable although I've never had them on. You could try that, and if you need extra comfort you could use those little jelly things. My mom has those in her P.T. shoes. My uncle is also a corrections officer but he wears those tall black boots. His are pretty cheap, like I think he got his at walmart. I'm pretty sure when you say secuirty guard they want you to have a black boot. As long as its a normal looking black boot and its comfortable for you then it should be fine.
