I got an MIP several months ago. I was put on probation (which was paid for and ended in February) and was sentenced to one alcohol awareness class. I just got a letter from the court saying I need to show up because of no proof of attending the class.
I plan on showing up to court, but what should I say? To be honest I didn't attend the class because all of the offered times conflicted with my schedule and I forgot about it. Does anyone know how alcohol awareness classes work (ie, do they record your name and information when you show up)? I don't want to lie under oath but I figure they'll be more willing to let me take "another" class if I say I already took one.

Be honest say you didn't go to the class. They make you sign in when you arrive, no sign in they will know you were not there. Don't lie just ask the Judge for more time, it will piss the Judge off if you lie to him/her . Good luck. This is really contempt of court. Be as nice as you can, and maybe he won't put you in jail. |

Absolutely they take your information when you go. There is no point in trying to lie about having gone. Just be honest, say you couldn't make the classes that were offered and you forgot about it. Then say you're willing to take the class, and hope for the best. If you try to lie about it, you could be in way more trouble. |
