Can a roommate give authorization to the police to search the entire house with or without a search warrant?

The room mate can only authorize a search of "common areas" that both parties have uncontrolled access to.

If there is a particular place that the room mate has no access to, such as a locked closet or bedroom they can not authorize a search of those areas.

Like he said, only common areas. Each person paying rent has an expectation of privacy in there rooms.
