They use to say it gets wiped and it didn't...With them trying to get everyone's DNA now and to have a file on everyone down to what colour underwear one likes....Nothing will ever be wiped. |

That is so not true. You have a childhood criminal record that stays on your file. |

It is not wiped. |

No it's not pointless. The record that is wiped out when one hits adult hood is helpfull in tracking juvenile delinquents. If there were no records for juveniles they would be free to offend again and again. This way even though it's not a permanent record, a juvenile can expect stiffer and stiffer punishments for repeat offenses. |

underage drinking leads to death.
They need treatment and if that doesn't work jail time.
If you are a MIP today, you will not be able to drive until you are 21.
You record is NOT wiped out, it normally cannot be used against you as an adult.
But more and more the courts are allowing that evidence in as proof of past misdeeds.
Plus: Underage drinking is extremely dumb. Almost as dumb as smoking pot. They both ruin lives and families. |

Nobodies file is 'wiped' clean when they turn 18 at all, and the legal age of responsibility in a court is 17 or over.
I work in this field and know that if somebody commits say a shoplifting when they are 12 it will remain on their file. Although it might not always be disclosed to other agencies, the Police and CPS will have a record. |

No, because it shows there are consequences when you break the law. |

Underaged drinking is anything before age 21 (if you're in the US). You're assuming that your record is clean when you turn 18 (which isn't necessarily correct.) |

I don't think that's quite right. Maybe it's 'spent' after 10 years but the person would have to declare the offence for that time- likewise it seems, so will the parents as they may be charged , too |

It's more desperate measures. If kids are under age they can
ask for a legal adult to be present.Solicitor.So their parents
don't have to be informed.EEC Human Rights. So what we the taxpayer is going to do.Is pay for an expensive legal case.Or compensation to a bunch of punks and their parents.
Who had no right to know what the media may have told the
public about anyway. |
