ok so i hear they are picky who they hand them out to but im planning on joining the british army so i was just wornding does being in the army give me a better chance of geting one i want it for clay pigein shooting

my hubby has a shotgun licence - they check to make sure you dont have a criminal record, there may be more internal checks they do, but i cant remember. they also come to the house to make sure you have the correct storage facilities for a shotgun and that it is somewhere secure and out of sight. We have a 3 shotgun cabinet (complete with 3 guns) in our bedroom in a cupboard. the police come and they want to see the storage facility in situ, so you buy the cabinet before the guns. why dont you go to your local gun shop and have a word with them about the requirements for a licence, they will be the ones to get the proper cabinet from anyway. we only do clays by the way - nothing small and furry :) |

No it won't and it's probably better not to mention it to the police. They get a bee in their bonnets that they are in charge of civilians and your Army back ground will just get up their noses. Usually the firearms officer at your local force is the most shirty, unhelpfull S.O.B in the police force and will dissuade you from even owning a water pistol....If you want a certificate prepare to do battle for your rights. Clays are great fun and addictive...if you are a member of something it would help..the police will want to know where you're going to shoot. |
