It is a misdemeanor the fine will be less than the cost of an attorney. If you have been arrested alot of times maybe an attorney is a good idea. Honestly it is about as serious as a traffic ticket. Except you will not get points on your license. |

"just trying to find out what was going to happen to my friend"
Thats pretty vague.
Exactly HOW you were" just trying to find out what was going to happen to my friend"
is whats important here. |

The system is not there to help you, but designed to put you in jail, If you are charged with something, you should always have an attorney |

Wow, not enough details there. I would say that you should definitely get a lawyer. They know what they're doing, they can help! |

Get a lawyer and stay away from the police and your friend. |

when you go to court, plead innocent and request a jury trial. they will set a court date, but they wont want it to go to trial. you can then plea bargin with the prosecuting attorney. if you threaten to get a lawyer and go all the way, they will probably throw it out, because it boarders on police brutality, and it wont be worth it financially for them. dont depend on the court for justice, you wont get it. |

If you're getting cuffed, I'd recommend you get a lawyer if you can. |

i am sure if you got slammed on the ground and cuffed you were told a couple of times to back up. you didn't do so. that is why you got put on the ground for officer safety. don't get mad at the officer for wanting to go home at the end of their shift. i would have done the same thing after i told you a couple of times with no response. |

the judge wont care about your reasons 1st before i give out advice" what works for me may not work for you"
get a lawyer sue make it sound as bad as what they are saying about you.you where abused ,cant walk now, trouble trusting people, problems going outside etc....
then trade your case for there's ill drop my case if you drop yours, put it to the judge just like that he'll jump at the chance to save valuable court time plus a possible costly payout to you ..
the reason i say this is you dont want it on your record.
from that point on everytime your pulled over or have to deal with cops it will not go good for you .plus background checks for jobs ect |

First realize your free, don't need to worry an attorney unless charges are brought against you. At the arraingment if you can't afford an attorney ask for help always plead not guilty. Your attorney might be able to help reduce charges. |

Yes, hire a lawyer. I would also file a complaint against the officer as well as making an appt. with the Prosecutors office to allow them the opportunity to throw out the charge. Good Luck, I hope you Beat the charge , it sounds like an abuse of power to me. |

You NEVER talk after you get arrested. EVER. No matter what you say can always be used against you. I would keep my mouth shut no matter what and lawyer up quickly. |

being your friend or not it is none of your business.it is called interfering with official police business.if you wanted to know you should have waited until it was over and then ask |

Bro, if you have to ask I think you already know the answer. You could try to defend yourself, but it most likely will backfire on you. Get a lawyer, and afterward get that prepaid legal stuff and make your "buddy" pay for it as payback for having to shell out a few grand on a lawyer............. |

Don't try to go it alone. If you can't afford one, the court should appoint you with a public defender. I've seen them in action. They're good. I'm sure it must be a scary situation to find yourself. Best of luck to you. |

Probably a good idea to get an attorney. I got a feeling there's more to it then you just asking what was going to happen to your friend. Sounds like you were "interfering with an official police investigation" which is why they charged you with obstruction. Next time, just let them do what they have to do, and ask your questions when they're done.....good luck! |

Yes, they can save you a lot of trouble and lessens your burden. Don't if you're poor or can't afford one. It's not that much of a serious crime. |

At least get a public defender they are free. You case can be better explained to a judge with an acting lawyer and lawyer can make a plea agreement. |

Tell them you have video and an attorney and they will drop the charges. |
