Do whatever makes you happy, you can always change careers later on. I'm doing my internship at a PD and was military police for the Air Force. If you do join LE be prepared for long hours, bad hours, stress, following orders, & a lot bureaucratic paper work. Law Enforcement has the highest divorce rate and suicide rate of any occupation in the U.S. Good Luck with your decision!

Think of your talents. Think about you, and about how you could make this world better. Think about what brings you joy, and what you'd love to do. For me it is helping people for example. Think about those things, and one day you WILL find the answer. You don't have to ask from people who don't know you.

You have many things to consider. First if you have changed majors a few times and are not sure this is what you want to do, you may want to reconsider. Most police academies are several months long and if you are not committed to the long haul you wasted time and in most cases money. Realize that police work is a career now days. You have to deal with very stressful situations and a totally different class of people. you will be obligated to do your duty with respect for yourself, other officers and citizens. you may have to put your life on the line or protect the life of others. you will be under constant criticism from everyone no matter what action you take. it is the #2 divorce and suicide profession in the country. More police Die by suicide than killed in the line of duty. I don't want to discourage you in any way if you are taking this seriously. I have several years on the job and most days enjoy what I do. I get satisfaction helping others but it has taken its toll on my persona and family life. I like the fact that I do something different almost everyday and am the first to respond to emergency's. The retirement pension is decent also. I always tell young people if you get in to 1 of three fields you should always have a job or the ability to get a job.
1.health career. People will always get sick, fall down ect.
2. Education people will always need to learn and the population is not getting any smaller.
3. Law enforcement crime has always been around and always will.

The only thing I wish I had done when I was younger was go in to the military and serve my country. My father was a vet and I was signed up and my mother talked me out of it. I could have used the veteranspreferencee when getting a police job also. good luck making your decision.
