Should bullying be a felony charge?

it causes suicides and school shootings so I think it needs to be taken alot more serious, and the penalties should be very bad, possibly life destroying to make them think very hard before taunting and bullying a other person. potential bullies need to think about what their doing and something needs to force them to think. if there are real chances they can become a convicted felon, they would think

teachers usually (as they did in this case) ignore the bullying problem. the kids parents reported it to the school but they ignored the problem. the school always ignores problems.

I sure as hell hope it becomes a felony. I am so sick and tired of reading about all the abuse the meek people have shoved down their throats by bullies. Bullies are people who feel inferior to the rest of the world so they overcompensate by the use of force to make their 'power' known. They're not fooling those of us who have a gateway into the mind of a bully. For all you bullies out there: 'Get yourself some psychological help before your asses wind up in jail, which is probably where they belong anyway'! A bully is the guy we're going to have to spend our tax dollars on for a few years after he gets locked up.

While bullying is an important topic, I don't think its even a crime right now. A lot of crimes (battery, assault, harassment, stalking, etc) are committed during bullying. Those charges should be pursued, however ...

Why don't we focus on empowering victims and potential victims? Teach them to defend themselves, how and why to stand up to bullies, where to get support? The government can't always step in and help us. In fact, when we allow them too much power "Big Brother" the protector and defender becomes "Big Brother" the owner / master - letting us know what's best for us. Its a slippery slope to to make everything we don't like a crime and then let Big Brother fix it for us.

An 11 year old who kills himself over being bullied didn't have any support at home or school. No one cared enough to be involved in his life enough to see warning signs I'm sure were there. To know what he was doing, how he was feeling. The problem wasn't just the bully(s), but all of those people who didn't give a damn about this kid!

I talk to my kids, they talk to me. When there's a problem, I go see the other kids parent(s), the school teacher(s) and principal. Sometimes they blow stuff out of proportion; sometimes its very serious (kid with a "to kill list in elementary school").

So instead of asking where were the teachers and the parents, we need to make it a felony? Was the kid left alone for long periods of time?

Was the the bully a 11 year old kid too? or was he just a teenager?

Did this kid seek help? was he denied help or not taken seriously?

I know this might be hard for you to understand, but did it every occur that not all deaths and cases of bullying make it to national news?
If this were to be the case, that means the news decided to highlight this kids death over some other piece of news. The news could have been having a slow day and it isn't unusual for the news to use a tragic story for more ratings.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm sad, because that would make me a fake person. I will ,however, make it a point to teach my own kids what to do and how to deal with it.

God someone make bullying and cyberbullying a felony before I and countless others give up because no one stood up for them. Bullying is the worst thing anyone has to go through no one has the right to bully another person. No one. Some one please defend us defend us who have no voice. Please
