Should corporal punishment be re-introduced?
|
Statistics show that bad behaviour has risen by nearly 30 per cent.
Isn't it time the do-gooders should be sent packing, and some real punishment brought back to schools, youth detention centres, and prisons?

Yes, I think a teacher should wear a belt around their necks all day and when a child raises their hand and get a question wrong or does poorly on quiz the teacher can then administer the punishment. If the kid gets aggressive you bring in a baseball bat.
Or we can leave the discipline to the parents....
OH I have one maybe we can dress them all up in uniforms that will surely change their attitude. |

Yes, but by their parents- not the school. It's not a teachers or principals job to beat a kid, it's his father's. |

YES, YES, YES, YES, YES,
I can't agree with you more, we need a deterrent, kissing and hugging is fine but not for bad behaviour.
Too many lawyers with too much time on their hands. creates havoc as they try to find paying work for themselves. |

Your argument is without merit. The nations with the most severe forms of corporal punishment such as Russia , China , and many Muslim countries have far more crimes per capita than the United Staes does. And what statistics are you referring to? |

As far as I'm concerned, It the parents that need slapping. A better theory is that if a kids won't conform to the schools policy's, they should be tossed right back in the home with the parents, not shipped to another site for spoiled brats because it's all paid for out of the SCHOOLS BUDGET, and who do you think pays all the alternate educational costs for all those kids who's parents are losers and have to be sent off school grounds, even if they are sent to a detention facility? You and Me!!! (Thanks to"No Kid left behind" law's.) |

There should be a line of credit with each set of parents and each child; that sorts out how well the child has improved each year and sends incremental credits for college, based on academic and behavior. Then the parents will be happy and the child catches some incentive to do well. You could use the uniform as a start until junior year of high school and then allow the credits to dictate how much of a uniform a kid must wear; to a certain point. The whole fad of wearing the pants below the waist line should NEVER be allowed. |

If the punishment is meant to bring shame to the child that misbehaves, of course. But most people can't handle that kind of power, and they go too far when they lose their temper. Most authority figures can't handle that kind of power.
Lord knows most Christian parents can't get it together. Maybe the schools can instill some discipline without beating the crap out of their kids. |

I think its a good idea. Look around are things getting better? Nnnnooooooooooo! We need to go back to the day when we feared the paddle in the principl's office! |
|

absolutely. when i was in school, kids were paddled. and the kids behaved. yes, out of fear. but all punishment is meant to instill fear. that's the whole point. teachers and principles had guidelines, and didn't go overboard, or it would cost them their jobs. i, myself, was paddled. it hurt like hell but i never had to be sent to the office again. i resisted any temptation to act up. my senior year paddling was restricted. and from then on, the school got worse and worse. it is now one of the most talked about schools regarding crime and misbehavior. |

YES!! If my kid misbehaves in school, I want the teacher to be able to deal the correct punishment, not allow them to get away with it for fear of hurting their feelings. |
