The pedophile should have thought about the disadvantages before he ruined some kid's life. His human rights just got fewer because of his crime.
I think that parents should have complete access to the information about pedophiles.
Here in the US we have Megan's law, that provides that information. |

No.
This will lead to mob violence and vigilantes running riot.
About 18 months ago a pensioner was kicked to death as some yobboes thought (wrongly) he was a paedophile.
Giving families this sort of information will lead to more things like this. |

No, because a lynch mob in Portsmouth recently attacked a paediatrician.
The police should carefully vet any application for information. |

No because it will drive them underground and the authorities will lose track of them. Also mob rule would occur. They should just be locked up and the key thrown away it would solve the problem. |

I have very mixed feelings on this. Can "the public" be trusted with the knowledge? If these creatures are driven underground then nobody is able to keep tabs on them or monitor their behaviour or the risks they pose.
Children are generally more at risk from people known to them than they are from a predatory stranger. |

I agree we should at least know if there's a paedophile living on our street, but why are these offenders even living in residential areas in the first place? They should definatley be kept away from areas with lots of children, it really freaks me out to think that our kids are not even safe playing outside their own houses.
Giving out names and adresses of these monsters will only provoke a modern day witch hunt though.
Im a 21 yr old woman with no kids but plenty of nieces and nephews. |

Yes!But the problems occur when those paedophiles change their names and disappear from the radar! |

yes they defo should. i am a 37 year old male and my reason is any measures to keep these animals away from kids can only be a good thing. As for there human rights what about the childs rights |

No, this is just silly voyerism and a public trial. |

yes all parents should know. paedophiles gave up all there rights when they did whatever they did. in my opinion they should be placed in the general population at a max security prison. and after the prisoners have finished with them let the parents of the children have some time alone with them.
o and i am a 28 year old male, father of a 1 year old boy. |

Yes, In America when they notify families they hold big meeting and tell the whole community.
British government think it will cause paedophiles to go underground. But in America there statistics show it had decreased underground networking and helped reduced incidents of child abuse.
I would rather know who was on my door step. This way if this person is going to commit an offence and any one sees them taking an interest in a child they are more likely to report it.
I am 29 yrs old, female with three children. |

yes.
there's only one overwhelming reason. The protection of children outweighs any other issues, including fluffy bits like civil liberties.
The society owes that to our children.
I am 47, woman , in medicine. |

Could lead to primitive cultures witch hunting, like the English do. As a result of which (whilst we on the subject) i heard of a paediatrician being attact as a result of mistaken identity. Leave the pedo's to us. |

Yeah they should be told, the paedophiles don't have the right to remain anonymous, because given the chance they'd all re-offend and the more people know who and where they are the less chances they'll have. Human rights belong to humans, not animals who prey on kids. |

the rights of the victim should come first. i don't personally see why a paedophile should! have rights. and what about the rights of ordinary men who cant even have a chat! or joke around with a kid without being suspected of being a paedophile? what about the children having to grow up suspecting every male they don't know!! of being a paedophile? viewing adults with suspicion rather than being able to relax with their elders and enjoy their company as i did when i was a boy? our consern for the rights of paedophiles who quite obviously have no consern for the rights of others is turning our world into a very uncomfortable and unhealthy place. the human rights bill is so far out of touch with reality that it realy needs to be scrapped. |

Paedophiles shouldn't have human rights |

paedo'viles' have no human rights, these people should be put in a land fill site and burried, how would you feel if your daughter, grand daughter, or neice was abused and raped at the age of six or seven, and then passed on to the next vile because that is what many of these do. |

yes I do.
unfortunately human rights legislation gave no one human resposibilites! that is where it falls down, and surely common sense says if you abrogate your responsibility, you also abrogate your rights. |
