Should u really go to a maximum security jail for selling 9.2 grams ($20 sack) of weed to an undercover cop?
Find answers to your legal question.

Should u really go to a maximum security jail for selling 9.2 grams ($20 sack) of weed to an undercover cop?

my friend now has a class B felony charge for selling weed to an undercover. She has no priors and she was with someone and he got probation. She had a $10,000 bond
and had to go to Prison for four months with ladies that were murderers and rapist and thier charges were less than hers.
This is a case in Missouri.....is this fair?

I thought it was a lie too, but it is all true I want to contact 20/20 or something like that to challange this case she got an extreme punishment for a $20 sack of weed. I do have all the facts and the system is wrong that is why she needs help...that is also why I asked the question

This sounds very unlikely for a first offense. I think there is WAY more that you are not telling here.

No one goes to prison for first offense delivery of misdemeanor weed.

Your friend isn't telling you the whole story... maximum security is reserved for prisoners who have a history of violent crimes... also, sentences of less than a year are served in county jail, not prison.

If she had a bond, then she was not even convicted yet, just awaiting trial, which would also be in county jail.

if your friend sold weed to an undercover cop, she should take the plea bargain like her friend did, she would have got probation if she had no priors, and would have got off with a misdemeanor, probably posession...

Of course you must go to a supermax prison.

In this country if you want to commit crime and evade jail, do something like say robbing thousands of their pension money like the Enron CEO's....

for your 9 gms of weed you are a plain criminal and you will ruin lives..(sic!!)

p.s. move to mexico or to canada pal....

I can't really tell you...

I know that US system is extremely harsh for some things,
which is why i wonder WHY there are so many crimes in US.

US has by seas and mountains the biggest prison population per 1000 people, and yet, crimes are just piling...

And yes, well, getting in US prison... is often "one way ticket".
US prisons aren't about rehabilitation, they are survival.

What kinda sack holds 0.32 oz of, well, anything?

of course its not fair -- when you can vote then vote -- and make sure all your friends vote too. the war on drugs is a huge money making scam that is destroying anything that might function as a real legal system so people can make a few bucks. the united states government is one of the biggest drug dealers in the world -- its all documented up until the 70s when they went undercover with it. the people using the government to sell drugs doesn't want your friend as competition. welcome to the united states. enjoy your stay.

I think that it is wrong to put non-violent criminals in with violent ones.
My guess is who she was with cut a better deal or was considered to be just an accessory.
And for sentences of under a year you don't go to prison, just jail.

yowasup20
Yes but no...her friend only got probation that is really not cool...but I do believe in harsh punishment for potential harm to the community...I am on your side, she shouldn't have gone to max security...but she did deserve a punishment

Missouri is a tricky state to say the least.... No it isn't fair, but in the Criminal Justice system in this country needs a lot of reform to function properly. If pot were decriminalized there would be less people in prison. At this moment, there re 2.3 million people in USA prisons........... somethings wrong with this. USA has more people in prisoned than any other country on earth. I lived in Missouri and had wished that I lived on the Kansas side of KC.......

FatPizza9
Yes. I would give her jail.

She chose to do the crime.

freedom first
Absolutely not.

People leaving the jails are more likely to be violent than the people going into jails (JAIL makes non-violent people violent.) With that factor and the stigma on your friend's record, she will be lucky if she can be as productive and law abiding as she used to be when she was selling pot (a.k.a. irony.)

And we wonder why crime goes up every year.

It seems excessive. But that is the law in our puritanical society. If you want it changed, which it should be, get a petition going to change it.
