That is a very nice thought. My birthday is Pearl Harbor Day and my grandfather who was in Hawaii during this attack would not give me my birthday present on my birthday (the day before, the day after he would) because he felt it wasn't a day for celebration......I just wonder if the people closer to the situation would feel the same way about a 9/11 holiday? |

It already is, actually. It's called "Patriot's Day" It says it on some calendars. Then again, December 7th isn't a holiday, so neither should 9/11. So it's a bit of a toss up. |

no, the day of pearl harbor is not either. Tragedies should not have a national holiday. The people who lost their lives however should be remembered. |

Don't think many people would want to make a holiday of this.. Nobody I know of anyhow. |

I dont think so...i mean of course all of us were hurt by september 11 events but i think we appreciate fire men and police even if we are in peace with no events...and alot of people are killed everyday ....we dont make their death a holiday ...i know these died in a horrible way but also many in the world...many people are killed in bombs and by americans....i think all days should be turned to something positive ..;) so no...i dont think it should be a holiday....but i think it should be a reminder....for all of us:) |

We could feature the day without making it a holiday. Too many now. |

Then let's make Dec. 7th (Pearl Harbor) a holiday as well!!!! We shouldn't glorify such a day. Remember it, never forget it, but don't dwell on it. |

I'm about to give a very simple, yet complicated answer. One I noticed, that no one else has given. I will recheck the answers to be sure. Simply put, no.
If you do your research, you'll find that the United States has no National Holidays....NONE. We only have nationally observed holidays. This includes the 4th of July (Independence Day).
Having this day "nationally observed" may be a good idea. But, to make it a national holiday will open old wounds, namely the NAACP and the request made by them for a "national holiday" for Martin Luther King. Trying to make some people understand why they couldn't have a "national holiday" brought claims of racism throughout many of the uneducated. |

I think Katrina physically hurt a lot more people and continues to do so. I don't think we should take another holiday until that mess is cleaned up. |

I'm trying to make it a good story again. I really hate having the real 9/11 story. It stinks.
I don't think it should be a holiday though. We don't remember when parents died actual dates, etc.
Let's not get morbid here.

Well, I don't think it would work. It would just give people another excuse to have a day off of work to party. |

Yes. It could be a national holiday, and everyone could get together and march on their government offices and demand the truth.
We are sick of all the lies which we have been given about 9/11, and we want the truth.
In the latest poll which I read this morning, 55 percent of Americans believe that the government was complicit in 9/11.
Let's get to the bottom of this.
The official 9/11 Conmission report is obviously a complete pack of lies. So what is true?
Let's have a holiday to force them to tell us. |

it was just a day that the government screwed up. they knew it was gonna happen they let it happen so they could send our soldiers off to war. the same happened on Dec. 7. therefore it should not be a holiday it should be the day we impeached our president for letting such a horrible thing happen. |

No it's just a day that the government screwed up. They wanted an excuse to accelerate police state mentality. |
