Should women who cry rape falsely continue to remain annonymous?
|
I`m referring to the latest case of Jack Gillett. There have been over the last few years a number of high profile cases where the man in question has been found not guilty and the women accusers have been found to be fantasists or serial liars. The men they accuse are named but they continue to remain annonymous, is this right? I think rape is equal to, if not worse than murder. Additional Details Thanks for all your answers. I am aware that in the eyes of the law rape is not equal to murder - I was expressing my opinion. To those of you that answered that if you were acquited it does not mean you are innocent then whats the point of having a trial in the first place?

I totaly agree with you, if a woman falsely accuses a man of rape she should be named and shamed, its unfair if she is kept anonymous as she could go on to ruin another mans life with her false accusations. So Name and Shame her.. |

i honestly think they should be name and shamed, they are low life to put a Innocent person thought a terrible crime.xx |

JOJO

i think that it is wrong for the man to be named before he has been proven guilty, but if the woman is lying isn't that perjury?so yes she should be named and shamed. |

Anyone who attempts to pervert the course of justice by making false accusations and telling lies in court deserves to
be named in the media and punished severely. It does not matter whether the liar is male or female everyone should be equal in the eyes of the law. |

no they should not. they should be named and face prosecution. the victim will never get he's good name back. so why should they retain theirs. |

No, they should be named & shamed AS LONG AS it has been prooven 100 % that they were lying.
The alledged rapist is named, so his reputation is sullied. The woman shouldn't be able to hide, in order to alert other men in the future who may encounter her. |

I think they should.
Women must be encouraged to come forward about rape, and the prospect of anonymity does just that. If a woman fears she will be named and effectively shamed in the press after being raped and not believed, she will never come forward, meaning other women may be at risk.
Imagine the horror of being raped, then not believed, and then paraded in front of the press as a liar. Harrowing |

Most certainly not, it only encourages yet more false allegations. Once again, the Judge couldn't understand why the case was ever brought. I can answer why, it is because the CPS is full of nasty feminists fighting a cause rather than applying the law fairly.
The 'sisters' above should understand that the man has also not been proved guilty, but he is named anyway, therefore, so should she. The facts of this case make it almost certain that she wasn't raped, even by the ridiculously loose definitions that constitute rape these days. |

They should be named and shamed. |

I think that if a person Wrongly accuses a person of a crime could be rape, murder anything, then if the allegations are proved wrong and the person lied then they should have the same sentence as the person would have been given. and their faces, details printed in all the papers and on the TV. Just like it would have happened to the alleged offender
just my opinion though |

Yes they should be named....no ifs or buts!
But only if it can be shown that it was an intentionaly false allegation. Some cases are not brought to trail because of a lack of evidence, these should not be. |

Name them. |

that would be a hard call to make without seeing all the evidence...but if the woman is proved to be a pathological liar she would most likely be prosecuted for purgery/slander, whatever.
If you have never been raped, it is hard to understand the anonymity aspect. many times women are absolutely terrified, and they feel ashamed. but if they are proven to be lying, then I agree that they should be named and prosecuted.
rape is not seen as equal to murder in the eyes of the law because most times a life is not taken in the literal sense. but rape victims often have their spirit broken, they feel ashamed, it can cause family, personal, and psychological issues for years to come. |

Just because a man is found not guilty doesn't mean the woman has made a false charge. So I think she should remain anonymous.
On the other hand, if a woman admits she made a false charge to get back at someone or for whatever reason, then she's committed a criminal act and should not remain anonymous. |

Yes they should because what if a real rape victim was attacked and the was branded a 'false rape claim liar'? |

Just because someone is acquitted it doesn't mean they are innocent. If it is proven beyond doubt that a woman lies then the legislation is in place to prosecute them without any right to anonymity. The law should be used to deal with such women not naming and shaming which has so many times just resulted trial by media. |

Women are often accused to cry rape falsely and men are not punished. The system is broken and there is no way to make 100% sure that the women did not lie.
Let us protect the women, even if she is "proven" to be wrong, to at least not be named. |
