I am 100% sure you should not worry about it. She was just being rude and wanted to show off a little. What a mean person. That really gets to me. I would hate to know people like that can think they should openly trash talk, especially starting a conversaion like that. She went out of her way to let loose her ignorance. how undignified and superficial of her. But you'll be fine. Just a police officer. I mean whats he going to do? There is absolutely no way an officer can track you down, it is not appropriate or legal. Opinions aren't against the law. she probably deserved what you told her.

Racism isn't against the law, it's just blatantly distasteful. Even if her dad was a cop (which I strongly doubt he is), there isn't a damn thing he could do about a distasteful comment made anonymously online.

it is possible, but no regular cop can do it, you need a specialist/specialist equipment.

Even the FBI has difficulty tracking child predators online (and they have tons of resources).

State officers have less experience. Even if you were in trouble, chances are they're not gonna find you.

But you're not in trouble, so relax.

Even if he could she's got no real proof or evidence,so you should be ok.Plus she probably isnt going to take you to court or go through the trouble of trying to track you down just because you said something,and her dad might not even be a cop and she could just be saying that.

In my opinion, I doubt it. Why would a police officer go through all of the trouble just to track someone down just for saying something racist?
I don't think it is a crime. (I'm not racist) And what is the most they can do? Really, nothing... That would be stupid if they police tried to arrest someone for saying something racist.

The fact that her dad is a police officer doesn't matter. We as police officers only have the same right as you. To actually find where you were, a subpoena has to be taken out in order to find your computer connection (They will not use this unless you threatened to commit bodily harm to her). You will not be arrested for this incident, but just remember since she sunk down low enough to make fun of people with a different life choices, that doesn't mean that you should do the sink to her level.

it is completely possible to be arrested OR charged for being racist. (ive seen it done) she had every right in her way of saying her own opinion about gays even though it wasnt very polite to do so everyone has her own opinion but when you say something racist thats even worse. and you can get arrested for that. IF her father is a cop and im saying IF they may be able to track you through the computer just by your user name. they do have the technology to do that stuff so be very careful...i dont care who started it....that is so 5th grade fact is is YOU did something worse than her and something that you CAN get arrested for. you had the choice to ignore her. you choose not to thats not her problem so dont make this about her.

If she's seen your Ip address it may be remotley possible to do this. But to do so they would have to contact your ISP with the IP address and get your account information. To do this they will first have to file a supeona to get this. To do that they will need to have cause to do so, and a court hearing before the motion will be granted. In otherwords not likley.

But this is the United States too, and here we have freedom of speech. Saying something racist is not a criminal or civil offense. Besides it with the computer, and its her so even if it were a crime, with its not there's no valid chain of evidence to certify that the comments even came from you because even if they did capture something, comments and data can be easily altered.

So no, you are not in trouble. And if they do try to track you down then this is harrasment.

I highly doubt it...She could live miles mile miles away from you..I got threatened with cops because I kept calling my dad in a hotel in Michigan. Hotel desk workers are mean! But no way could they

I think you are ok. I am not with the law or anything. She could be lying you don't know her dad is a Police officer. I mean I am sure if they really really wanted to they could track you down but they are not going to you have nothing to worry about. If you are really worried tell your parents!
