You're in the wrong here so you don't really have a case. However, when you take a ticket to court and explain why you did something, you're unlikely to win but you almost always have a chance of lessening the punishment. For example, if there is a fine, you might be fined less just for showing up in court, acting like an adult, and explaining yourself. It may help to explain that you were parked on a dead-end street (so there wasn't any through traffic, making it easier to argue that it was less dangerous to park the wrong way around) as well as to point out the issue with the sun on the windshield.

In the end, though, you have to go in with the attitude that you don't deserve anything, because you don't. It doesn't matter who issued the ticket--city parking enforcement has just as much authority as the police, so you need to get rid of that idea right now--and it also doesn't matter why you parked as you did (though it makes sense to me). Your parking was illegal. So whatever you win will be out of decency and kind-heartedness on the part of the judge, coupled with the idea that what you did was very, very unlikely to be dangerous.

Why do you think of the parking enforcement as less than a cop? They still have the right to ticket and tow your car.

if the law says you can't park that way, then you can't park that way. no where in the law does it say "unless the person parking doens't think it is a big deal". the law is the law. maybe I don't think it is a big deal if I speed, because I live on a deserted road. still against the law. you broke the law, now pay the fine.

and, they can't let some people do it and not others. then everyone will have some stupid excuse like yours.

If you were parked illegally then you have no case. If you go in court and say you parked a certain way because you didn't want to scrap ice off your window they will probably laugh at you.

Nearly all cities have ordinances prohibiting parking on the wrong side of the roadway, i.e. against the flow of traffic.

It's not required to have a sign, the parking enforcement people have full authority to issue citations and go to court.

You can't win, but you can spend a lot of money trying.

You haven't told us exactly what your excuse will be. What are you going to use to fight it? Because what you did was illegal and city parking enforcement has the right to write you a ticket, I'm not sure why you even bring that up.

You have ZERO case. What you did was illegal. Pay the fine and quit complaining. It's NOT a point on your record. I can never understand why you people do something illegal like this and think you can fight it.

PS - Your argument is "i am on a dead end in front of my own house not by any corner as would make it dangerous for other people." So you admit it's wrong but for you it should be okay because in your opinion, this particular law is not dangerous in this situation. Yes, if everyone could just bend the laws to fit their needs, there would be NO tickets, right? You have NO case.

If you can find a section of your state's vehicle and traffic code that exempts dead end roads from normal parking laws, fight the ticket and more power to you!

Chances are, you will not find such a section of law. If you fight this ticket, you will probably lose, and still have to pay the full fine, plus court costs. You admit it was illegal to park like you did ... if it was me, I'd pay the fine. I hate wasting my time!

You should have a case... it all depends on what mood the judge is in that day. But I'd guess that you would win. If there is a no parking sign on the street, even better for you.

yes, you can easily fight it. Bring it to the place you have to pay it and talk to one of the people there. That happened to me last year.
