As a police officer, it is against your Code Of Ethics to be in the company of these type of people. You will have to find new friends to hang around with. Sorry, but that's one of the down sides to this job. This is why a lot of police officers only have friends that are police officers. |

If you are REALLY a cadet then you need to stop all association with friends that you know break the law. It's better for everyone concerned |

Small fish.... as long as they are not selling is ir really that big of a deal? Let them know that you would like them to refrain from using drugs around you, or bad things may happen. |

Inform your friends that your situation as a police cadet and their use of drugs do not go together. Politely ask them to refrain from drug use in your presence, and if they refuse, then you must decide which is more important- your friends or your career.
You will also find that when you do become a police officer, your old friends that are drug users will start to drift away from you, since they don't want to be arrested. At the same time, you will make other new friends in the law enforcement field.
Good luck in your career. |

tell them how you feel and that you are a police cadet and you are thinking about turning them in not because you want to get them in trouble but because you want them to get help and you want the person that is responsible for messing up their lives put behind barrs |

Even though you are a cadet...I am sure you have learned about the OATH that all LEO's take....
I for one would be the first one to turn in someone for doing drugs!!!!
You may even be able to talk to your TO(training officer) about your dilemma. He should be able to point you in the right direction!
If that is not enough...talk to the detectives at the police station in your area...let them take it from there...
Good Luck with your situation...I hope you do the right thing! |

What should you do? How about getting a life and stop trying to control everyone? You would ruin the lives of some of your "best friends" just so you can make a few brownie points? Yes, you sound like exactly the type of person who would want to be a cop. |

I would tell them that if they do drugs in your presence, you will be forced to arrest them.
Then arrest them if they do.
Other than that, I would leave it alone. |

If you are a police cadet, then that tells me you want to become a police officer. If that is true, are you not suppose to "uphold the law". If so, then you already know what your answer should be. |

Don't be a rat. Change your life. Make new friends of higher quality and move on. later on in your life if you bust a party with them in it, then arrest them. |

Inform your friends that you will no longer be able to associate them if they continue this use. Also, if they do it in your presence you can get into trouble for not doing anything. Talk it out with them first. If they are that into the drugs that they don't care about your friendship then they never were friends to begin with. Possibly find out who they get them from and if it's serious heavy drugs then you could initiate an anonymous informant complaint about it. |

The blue code of silence is imprinted early
You just hope the same LEOs that take that "oath" that makes them so righteous adhere to it even on YA and respect TOS rules
It is nearly impossible to meet an officer who is not hypocritical, and has arrested a citizen for violations they are willing to commit themselves or let their buddies commit |

find out who they get drugs from like you said!
Or just tell them to quit because your a cop! |

If you knew they did drugs before becoming a police officer and stuff, and their cool with even telling you about it I wouldn't bust them. Why go after users when there are bigger fish to fry, know what I'm sayin? good luck to you in whatever you decide. |

You better watch out before you get arrested yourself for visiting a common nuisance. |

Listen Bro, If they are your good friends then let it be. You could use them as a useful resource to make some good CI's. If they are doing drugs, make sure you are not around them when they do it, and don't put yourself in a position that will compromise you career. Believe me you are only a cadet you will find the longer you are an officer the more your relationships will change with these friends I would not be suprised if your friends became worried that you were a cop and put more distance between you and them. |

If you turn them in they won't be your friends anymore, they will be your enemies.
Frankly, if this is how you treat your friends you really aren't a good candidate to be a police officer. |

get new best friends and smoke your old best friends, and watch them suffer in the court system process. Thats what cops do, so either be a cop, or be a human and get a new and better career. |

damn! ur a real @sshole. is that how you do your friends? glad i dont know you. just tell them u dont want them doing any drugs around you, then watch how fast they are not your friends anymore! once your a cop nobody will want to be around you anyways. who really wants a cop hanging around? only other cops. you'll make new friends on the force. what kinda cop hangs around drug addicts anyways? i hope your not just talking about weed, which doesnt even count. if they are not doing coke, heroin, or meth then i would pull that stick outta ur @ss. |

Once you get "all the way in" you'll find many of your fellow officers also partake.
Will you be so eager to turn them in also?
I find that the cops don't smoke the weed as it stays in system too long, most of them that partake do coke. (isn't that just peachy) |
