They have posted a fake myspace profile and have also posted things on craigslist using my photos and saying false and defamatory things. Is there a way to find out who it is? I have an idea but I just need the proof. Do I have to hire a PI to get the proof and figure out who it is? Once I get the proof are there legal actions I can take?

My friend was in that situation once. She had a facebook profile and someone took all of her pictures and information and created a fake profile with them.
My friend had 200+ friends (all of whom seemed legitimate, as you can tell from the companies they work for, their profile pictures, universities and schools they attend, etc), and the identity thief had very few, so she definitely had more credibility. Most of us, i.e. her friends, reported that person to Facebook and sent the company messages explaining the situation.The problem was solved pretty easily. |

Well, something that's the easiest is you can get where they are using the computer at or their IP address. You use tracert in command prompt, if you don't know what it is you can look it up on the internet.
But also you can yourself pretend to be someone else and ask the person questions, and eventually maybe ask questions that only your friend would know about you and if they answer them right that might narrow it down...
I don't know if there are legal actions but there could be like stolen identity... Hope it helps :) |

You can have someone trace their IP address to find their computer. The police may help you if they are posting personal information (phone numbers, address, ect.) about you which you believe is invading your privacy. |

i am having a problem, in the news article comment section some body posting comment using my name, and comment was directly attacking the writer with the nasty words and sentences. Which i did not know. somebody told me and i went there and also sent a comment about it but they did not published it also found today now again they have posted comment using my name with more nasty words for the article writer. I did not find any contact ddress for this website. what they do is basically from a ethnic news papers they paste and copy all the article and later people posting all kind of comment without any sensorship. Now how do i know who is doing it. bwcause i want to take some legal action. please help |
