Something wrong with my speeding citation?

I got a "speeding citation" for going 84mph on the highway in San Diego, California but my ticket doesn't say for how much BUT it DOES say there is a court date. I heard from my parents that they might send the actual ticket or w/e to the address on my I.D. but it never arrived and there is a little more then 2 weeks left till the court date. What should I do?

I don't know about California, but in Virginia going over 80 MPH is reckless driving, which requires a mandatory court appearance. It is not a ticket that you can simply pre-pay. You best bet would be to call the Clerk's Office, the number for which should be listed on the ticket, and ask if an appearance is required.

Courtesy notices sometimes get lost in the mail, but you can take care of your ticket, including signing up for traffic school if available, at the San Diego County Superior Court's web site.

It does not matter what agency issued the ticket. All traffic citations in San Diego County are handled by the San Diego County Superior Court.

If you were in a 65 mph zone, the ticket should be around $321. Traffic school will add around $50 to the cost, but keep it off your record. If you were in a 55 mph zone, the ticket will be around $435, and you may not be able to sign up for traffic school online (though you can still go to court on the appearance date and ask).

You'll get a courtesy notice in the mail from the courts a couple of weeks after you were cited. It'll give you all of your options, so you can decisde what you want to do at that time. Assuming you got your citation on the freeway (by the CHP), you should contact their local office to see which court jurisdiction you would be in. Just because you didn't get a courtesy notice doesn't mean you don't have to show up in court.

Cites in California don't have the fine written on them - that's for the judge to impose after you're found guilty (since they have some discretion in how the fines are applied).

You get a courtesy notice within 30 days of the ticket with all the information.

Citations rarely, if ever, list the fine amount.

You have to contact the court for that info.

there should be a phone number on it to call and or go to the court date or there will be big trouble.
