Speeding but no ticket?

Usually get pulled over for speeding you get some kind of paper work you gotta sign or you get a citation or something right? Well, I was speeding in Polk County Florida and i was doing 80 on a 60 (or 65 don't remember) and the undercovered police offer says since i have a clean record instead of the ticket being 500 dollars or something hes gonna make it 280 for the ticket. I only gave him my license, he didn't ask for anything else. It was still April 1st and i'm hoping this isn't a big April fools jokes on me and if it is then its one of the best April fools jokes done on me. He didn't tell me if he was going to mail it or how i was going to pay for it. He didn't write a ticket or make me sign anything i just gave him my license he told me how much it was going to be and told me to drive safely. When he went back to his car after telling me to drive safely I didn't know if he was going to write me a ticket so I stayed there till he drove away. I'm wondering if hes just going to mail me the ticket or its a big April fools joke. If the ticket is by mail how long does it usually take for them to mail me the ticket? I'm 18 years old and the cars my moms btw.

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

In the state I live in, they can mail you the ticket but only if you refuse to sign it. I donâ€™t see how you can get a ticket without signing for it because how would they know it was you who got the ticket. The only thing I can think of is that this undercover cop probably had no tickets because he doesnâ€™t use them and in that case he should have just given you a warning. I would go to the police department and ask them because you donâ€™t want your license suspended. By the way, slow down!

he could be inpersonating, collecting info on you, identiy theft. i would contact the police and rather pay the ticket, or find out it was a phony and make a report and know to watch out, cuase if he took ur license n gave it back, theres alot of information he can get access to with the info on your license. so u might have bigger things coming your yet to come, and none are very good. so be vigilant, check ur credit reports, watch around, but stay on edge, weirdphone calls, weird letters in the mail,.

I believe in most cases the officer has to issue you a citation - I haven't heard of any kind of 'cite you by mail' thing - although since I'm not from Florida, it's possible there's something going on there I don't know about.

My first two guesses are that either he was having fun with you or perhaps he got a more urgent call that caused him to drop what he was doing (writing you up) and take off - which would be lucky for you.

My third guess (which I consider unlikely, but it's always a possibility) is that you didn't get pulled over by a real officer. Was he in uniform, or was he plainclothes? You do occasionally come across stories of people impersonating and pulling traffic stops - and generally people who do that don't go the extra step to write up phony tickets, so that would fit. Pretty unlikely, though - I'd stick with option 1 or 2, unless as I said they have some new citation option in Florida that I haven't heard about.

Never had an officer take my license & drive off with it.

Have had some tickets in the past that I had to go to the local court & pay before I could continue on my way, this was due to the fact that I was from another state.

But have had some cut me a break on the true amount i was over the limit. Some even let me go with a warning.

But none ever took my license.

You should go to the police station and confess to your speedy ways. Tell them you want to pay the full $500 fine. ( Did he ever give you back your license ?)
